ScreenshotThe Open Institute’s gender-based violence (GBV) project in Cambodia was nominated by an international jury of ICT experts to move on to the second round of the UN-sponsored 2013 World Summit Award (WSA) in the category of e‑Inclusion & Empowerment. The project was thus eligible to compete against almost 500 outstanding e-content products and applications from 168 countries before the WSA’s grand jury on 29-31 August in Tallinn, Estonia, but was unfortunately not selected in the second round.

The Open Institute’s project provided key stakeholders with the tools and knowledge needed to track incidences of GBV online in a way that could be viewed by the public, in order to increase awareness and work toward immediate intervention. The project was funded by APC.
